Hi snow, hi! Aren't you tired of us yet? I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm not yet tired of YOU! *capers about in the snow* Only 37 more centimetres and we'll have an ALL TIME RECORD for Toronto snowfall. C'mon, in for a penny, in for a pound: go snow go!
(And I have to sincerely apologize to everyone in Toronto for last Friday night's snowfall. I am entirely to blame for the ten centimeters or whatever it was by virtue of the fact that I wore my low boots for the first time in WEEKS. They were perfect on Friday morning but woefully inadequate come Friday evening when Murphy and his fucking law decided to pay a visit. Forgive me.)
In other news, for those of you who know Marcie Gibson, Erin Sandilands or Andrea Zanin, Andrea's just pointed out in her post on family a wonderful article about family in a queer context for which they were interviewed.* (For the many non-Ontarians on my flist, the article was written for the province's new February statutory holiday, Family Day.) And actually, even if you don't know anyone in the article, it still makes for very interesting reading on the evolving nature of "family" in a (locally) queer social and historical context.
*And named, so I'm not feeling terribly concerned about identifying them here...
( Both articles now have ME thinking (okay, rambling) about family, how I define it, and who I count as family in my own life. )
Oh, and speaking of family, I'd be remiss if I didn't go all virtual-photo-in-the-wallet on you and tell you that I found a picture of my dad performing on the Canadian Opera Company website! (And by "performing" I mean "sitting and staring at a monitor with his back to the audience.") He's one of the guards sitting on the catwalk above the action watching...well, trees. On the monitor. It was a weird opera. He's on the left - the light is on his uniform hat. But what a hat! And isn't he doing a great job with the sitting? You should see the walking around and gesturing! *beams proudly*
Holy CRAP, is it really 11:30? Okay, bedtime for the Denster...I'm going to have to catch up on your entries later... :( But possibly not 'til Sunday or Monday cuz 'Zil and I are going away for a Romantic Weekend at Niagara Falls! \o/ Over Ontario's public school March Break, we realized a little too late. Good thing we're not going to a major tourist destination or anything, eh? *facepalm*
