Quote of the day

So it's Pride weekend here (yay!) and I'm wandering around just in my undies muttering, "What should I WEAR?" My houseguest commented, "It's Pride; you're all set!"

I love Pride. :D

I'm puzzled by your comment. I'm not quite sure which "demeaning ridiculous stereotypes" you're talking about? Being topless/mostly naked? What does QAIA have to do with that? (I'm genuinely curious: I don't understand your statement here.)

To your second point: many of the groups marching ARE very serious about achieving measurable political and social goals, and while this year I choose to simply walk around briefly during the day rather than participating in marches or events - one of the things I love about Pride (aside from the organizing committee's politics this year, which I do NOT love :P) is that it can be so many different things to different people - I at least support those activist efforts in spirit. Frankly, your dismissal of those who work hard at change alongside those who prefer to party both comes across as both reductionist and insulting.

Removed the misplaced "both." :P
