My poor kitty. He just decided it was a great idea to tentatively lick the sticky side of a piece of tape and has spent the last five minutes doing everything but dragging his tongue along the floor to get the residual tape residue off his tongue. I have NEVER SEEN him lick so frantically - aside from the unfortunate cayenne incident. *pets him*
Anyway. Happy New Year, everyone! I :D hope y'all had enjoyable holidays? Mine were (even my three days of work last week! It was lovely and quiet, so I got a ton of stuff done), though I would definitely NOT go so far as to say they were "relaxing." But that's okay: it was really, really fabulous to see so many people, and all things considered I managed to get quite a bit done too.
Rather than writing a list of New Year's resolutions this year - all of which I'd no doubt break in the first week :P - I've instead written up a comprehensive list of goals for the year, and action steps to get there. It all seems much more doable if I break down my savings goals, for instance, into how much I'd need to save per week rather than just being intimidated by the lump sum, you know? I've also asked my boss if I can rearrange my schedule to work longer days Monday to Thursday so I can take Fridays off. My free time in the evenings is so short I have trouble getting anything done, so I'm hoping that by creating larger chunks of time to work I stand a snowball's chance in hell of actually absorbing a bunch of the stuff I want to learn - starting with PHP and SQL, dammit. Anyway, wish me luck; I should find out tomorrow...
I had mentioned to
theclevermonkey that I have been thinking of late about different media and how I use them for different purposes, and that I'd post about it. So here goes:
( books vs. TV and movies )
Anyway, I know most people on this list are avid readers and/or consumers of other media, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on TV/movies vs. books, and which you enjoy how and why...
